In an op-ed piece in the New York Times, Paul Krugman says "Reagan did it", when speaking of today's  financial turmoil.  He blames policies, enacted in another time of recession, for the economic crisis our country finds itself in today.

As our President attempts to rescue the nation from the economic disaster he inherited, it seems that Congressional Republicans have settled on a strategy.  It appears that they have decided to gamble, and place their bets on the failure of the President's solutions.

One of the popular ways that insanity can be defined is "doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result."  Each time I hear the Congressional Republicans call for more tax cuts, this comes to mind.

There is not a liberal America and a conservative America, there's the United States of America.

It seems that we are once again being confronted by those doubting our legitimacy as Republicans, and demanding that we explain ourselves, and our support of President-Elect Barack Obama.

As the economic crisis worsens, Washington is strangely silent.  Our current President ventures forth infrequently, with terse statements and little else.  Most of us know, or assume, that he has no answers to the current situation, as it's his policies that have brought us to this point.
