Republicans for Obama
You are hereWith job growth slowing, how can Obama stay on top?
By John Martin - Posted on 06 June 2012
You mean he hasn't brought the economy back from the edge of implosion in 3 1/2 years?!?!? LOL...
I voted for the last thing b/c the budget is the biggest hurdle he has.
There are headwinds for re-election - the looming "fiscal cliff" discussion and a SCOTUS decision on health care just to name two.
One thing that the Administration doesn't tout loudly enough is that President Obama is putting serious pressure on Germany to take the Big Leap and make a decision in re Greece. The European drama has gone from "should we do something" to "what are the details to make this happen?" and Obama's pressure - along with the living example our own monetary policy in response to 2008 - has more to do with that turn than most people realize.
I picked Romney's economic plan which could gut the middle class. This electon is about the President and Romney's plan. Romney should not be eliminated from this equation and given a free ride to ignore his track record. Romney made the comment that because he was a businessman that this experience qualifies him to be the President; therefore, when his record as businessman was examined, all of sudden this is a distraction from the real issue of the economy!! lol like really??
The Obama administration has lost some good moments with their message. They should have come out initially with how President Obama brought the economy back from the brink of collapse!! They should have done a comparison (Housing, banking, jobs, Auto industry, healthcare and etc.) from where the economy was in 2008 and 2009 and compared it to where we are now; they should have come out strong and hard with that message!! They should have laid out the ground work for how obstruction in congress was truly impeding the economic progress and what could be the eventual outcome.
I think at this point, in order for the Obama administration to have a strong message on the economy, he has to have some credible economist to come before the American people and speak to what the Obama policy has done to evade an economic collapse and what is going to be the trajectory of the recovery of the economy based on Obama’s policy verses an alternative policy. When a credible economist speaks to the facts then it would diminish the GOP from selling the American people a pipe dream!! The GOP talks about what they want for the Country but they do not have a real tangible plan that could speak to the time frames of when their policy will reduce the debt, reduce the unemployment rate and create jobs!!
The Obama administration needs to push the GOP to give a deadline or time frame for when the unemployment rate will decrease?? When will the American people see increase in jobs?? Will it be in one year or two years?? When will the GDP increase??? How soon will they reduce the debt?? How will reducing the debt impact average Americans or the middle class?? Will the middle increase or decrease?? Is a strong middle class productive for the economy?? and if so, how will the republicans increase or strengthen the middle class?? These need to be the questions that the Republicans need to be confronted with!! ---The Obama administration has allowed the Republicans to get away without challenging them on the details and time frames of their policy implementation. If the republicans can’t substantiate a realistic time frame for these improvements, then how can they demonstrate or prove that the President’s policies aren’t effective in a reasonable time frame?? The GOP needs to be pushed hard on what is the priority for restoring the economy. Is it increasing the jobs?? If it is increasing the jobs for those who are unemployed, then what is their plan for getting average Americans back to work??
All I hear the GOP worried about is the debt!! Surely reducing the debt is critical to maintaining the economy but what will they do to increase growth or will growth automatically increase once they slash the debt???---- Also, the Obama administration needs to insist that the GOP demonstrate how their policy is vastly different from previous policies!! What is unique about the GOP’s policies from the past which will offset or prevent a decline in the economy and increase jobs?? Since the GOP says that talking about the past is nonproductive, then let’s talk policy. Every President looks at the previous administration economic policies to see what they can improve on in order to avoid certain pitfalls; what has the GOP learned from the previous administrations policies that they could improve on?? The GOP needs to be challenged on how they have set themselves apart in a real way from the past that would allow them to improve on the economy!! No one has challenged the GOP on lessons learned from previous administrations or confronted them on when their policies will demonstrate improvement for the American people. If the GOP chooses to ignore good lessons learned from the past, then how can they effectively move forward?? The Obama administration has wandered off on insignificant issues and allowed the GOP to frame him as a destroyer and incompetent leader!! He needs to put them in the hot seat to answer some real questions on how they will deal with this complex issue called the ECONOMY!! The GOP talks about the economy as if it is a simple matter to solve! How will the GOP deal with the euro crisis??? They have not been confronted with addressing these complicated facts!! They have been given a free ride to sell an imaginary dream or future for people who are afraid!!
Of course I am not referring to my lovely Republican friends here lol!! hahaha
I just wanted to comment on a few things that I‘ve noticed about the GOP’s agenda. First, their mantra about scaling back on the government means that they are trying to tie the Healthcare plan to the debt crisis. Somehow, if the American people view the healthcare plan as a burden to the overall debt, then healthcare becomes totally unpopular; therefore, this makes it easier for the Republicans to repeal it if they should be the majority in the executive and legislative branches. Unfortunately, we know that the Obama administration stopped promoting it shortly after it was passed. Sadly, many voters already disapprove of the Healthcare mandate. Second, the Romney campaign is out to do collateral Damage to the Obama campaign with false information regarding the President not having a jobs Plan (Totally not true— it’s called the American Jobs Act). Here is the Bill and the contents -- http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/09/08/fact-sheet-american-jobs-act or http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/legislative/reports/american-jobs-act.pdf . The Romney campaign wants to give the illusion that the Obama administration has been sitting down and partying while the economy was sinking!! Lol----- the lie that the stimulus did not help is completely false -- Here is the breakdown of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act --- http://www.recovery.gov/Transparency/fundingoverview/Pages/fundingbreakdown.aspx .
What the Republicans failed to admit is that several Republican Governors bulked at the Stimulus money which led to its ineffectiveness on a national level because they had to reduce their budget by laying off public workers ( teachers, fireman, policeman and etc); therefore, adding to the unemployment rate. The GOP ignored the leading economist request or recommendation for a broader stimulus plan to sustain the economy; as a result, they only passed a meager stimulus plan. Did the stimulus plan work?? Well there is conflicting opinions but there is evidence of 4.3 million private sector jobs created, increase in consumer spending, stock market doubled, GDP growth and home buying started to improve; did this happen by itself??--- If the economy improved on its own, then why does the GOP need to do anything?? Here is one expert’s opinion on the stimulus plan http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/11/wait-did-the-stimulus-work/ and http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/06/07/12104923-case-closed-the-stimulus-worked?pc=25&sp=0 ---- http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/douglas-w-elmendorf/gIQAL3My9O_topic.html .
The GOP wants to stay in denial and complete fraud on the Obama Administration. Also, the automobile Industry was very pivotal to this economy. It saved approximately100, 000’s to possibly a million jobs!!—This is HUGE for the economy not just for the states alone!! The Obama administration must tout how saving the Automobile industry enhanced the economic stability!! --- The Obama administration should show what the Jobs Bill consist of on his campaign trail and show video testimonial of the Republicans in Congress arguing and denying the American people progress. They should provide a list of all the congressman who vetoed the Jobs Bill ( I know this would raise a Ruckus!! Lol), then the American people would see evidence of how this political process is played out on the hill!! Congress should be held accountable for what their tasks are!! This is a Democracy, not an emperor empire!! All stakeholders should be held accountable for what they do and don’t do. The Obama administration should start having his grassroots supporters and foot soldiers provide voters with handouts, brochures, and pamphlets of the president’s accomplishments, so the voters can have some tangible facts on hand as they register to vote. The administration needs to get creative and savvy so at least “strategic wise” they can stay ahead of the game if they can’t compete financially. The Obama administration should allow the supporters the creative flexibility to broadcast his achievements with some guidance.
The only thing that is going to neutralize or refute the GOPs’ lies is the President’s triumphs, plans and policies. The right wing wants to dissolve a system that has been in place for a century now; they want to get rid of the Department of Education, EPA, Medicaid, and Medicare and reduce Social Security to nothing. The right wing says that these social safety nets are too costly, Government overreach (Big Government) and imposing on Americans’ freedoms. Surely, there are those in our society who feel that their tax dollars should not go to these social programs but they don’t have a problem with the Billionaires raising their tax dollars so they can continue to gamble in the market!!! Here is the constitution that deals with taxes and commerce Article 1 Section 8--- http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst_A1Sec8.html therefore; the federal Government has a role in the lives of its citizens!!
However, we know that the tea party wants a Libertarian Country!! How wonderful the Corporate AMERICA would love it!! They get to gamble in the capitalistic society with no restraints!! There would be no laws protecting workers’ rights except only in criminal cases----If the Government should leave the citizens to their own devises, then what happens if a cataclysmic natural disaster should happen?? does the Government pay the healthcare bills of those injured who has lost everything?? Including job and home?? Who rebuilds the city or state?? Should Government get involved then??---- The educational system has been the greatest entity in our history!! Why get rid of it??? If a system is working just fine, why tamper with it?? The benefits outweigh the risks!!-- The President wants to add to our superior system but the Republicans want to “Reinvent the wheel”
In summary, The republicans’ are playing into a society that is still struggling with equal rights and exploiting people who are plagued with fears and bias!!
