RNC Convention Plans
The RNC is talking about possibly scaling down the convention depending upon the hurricane situation. They said they would hate to be seen celebrating and giving speeches while a serious hurricane takes place. Get this-they might even turn the whole convention into a Hurricane telethon. Can anyone else see right through this? Bush made a boo-boo with Katrina-now we are the good guys who won't let that hapen again. You'll forgive us, won't you? With the Palin pick and now this idea-can we say pandering? How do you think this would be received/reported on? (Suzi-I'd love your opinion.) I'll bet many prominent Republicans would love that idea since most are ditching the convention anyway trying to save their political lives, they have no real agenda anyway, they can't fake enthusiasm, they all have to change their speeches to leave out the "experience" criticism and they know the DNC convention would totally outshine them! And they ponder: maybe if the public is blind to our real objective-they will think we are the caring party compared to the celebrity party and we can even put it in an ad! How perfect-did this come straight from Rove?
This second link from Politico suggests McCain may deliver his speech from the disaster zone live via satellite.
