Can anyone tell me if this is in fact true?

By neen626 - Posted on 21 September 2008

My mom sent me this from one of the forums she participates in. Can anyone tell me if this is true and if it is how do you feel about it? I personally am annoyed about it!! Why should the format be changed to benefit someone who is inexperienced in debating?

VP Debate Rules Changed to Compensate Sarah Palin

At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have
shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running
mates.
McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.

Unfortunately, it seems so:

What's next? Grading her answers on a curve? This is ludicrous!

Oh, and thanks for pointing it out. This should go viral.

Maybe they should just have a townhall meeting...

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, & wiser people so full of doubts.

Every day I think it can't get any wierder from the McCain/Palin camp. Every day they prove me wrong.

FOLLOW THE MONEY.

The sponsors for this years debates are: Anheuser-Bushc, BBH New York, The Howard G. Buffett Foundation, Sheldon Cohen Esq., EDS (an HP Company), International Bottled Water, The Kovler Foundation, Kaiser Family Fund, and YWCA USA.

I've only Googled two of the sponsors so far. Anheuser-Busch -- CampaignMoney.com shows a long list of officers and directors who have given $ to the Republican party. (To be fair, I haven't checked to see how many gave to the Dem party yet). BBH New York -- two people founded the company, one was named Prescott S. Bush -- 'nuff said.  On a third sponsor, YWCA, it leans very right.

I'll check into others as I have time.  If any others want to help Google, you're more than welcome.

Anheuser-Busch... hmm...

Duh! I can't believe I didn't connect those dots.  Thanks! I have websites to check on which groups foundations give to... I'll check those tomorrow.

anyway check for a bulge the size of Alaska on her back...

"Thanks for the question, Senator Biden. Hold on, I'll get John's staff get back to you"

I think that this is unfair for both parties as well as the american people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't give her the questions and answers ahead of time.  Anything goes.   Win at any cost.
This should confirm any doubts voters have about Palin. Pathetic. What is she going to do as VP or (heaven forbid) President when a crisis hits? "Hey, Cheney, hand me those cheat sheets fast!" If she starts to answer questions before they are fully given, we'll know she got the questions "to make it fair." I have a sense she will survive (thanks to these schemes) and will thereby be declared "winner" by the MSM just for not falling apart. The bar is just so low for her-is this what voters really want?

Here's my fear, Izzy.  Those of us on this site are paying attention and we know that the debate is skewed. But will the majority of voters see it?

This is exactly the kind of garbage from the McCain/Palin camp that needs to be plastered across every news screen in America.  Their philosophy is clear:  lie,  lie, lie, change rules, twist the facts and pray the American people are stupid and don't catch on.

We HAVE to do everything we can to make the information in this thread PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE.

Yes it is....
Don't fret, guys!  There's a reason why the Obama campaign chose the economy for the last set of debates.  That is what people will come away with.  I'm more concerned about that debate than I am Palin's.  Let's be honest here:  Many of the people who have decided to vote for McCain's ticket because of Palin are not doing so for her debating skills.  I really don't think that will matter all that much.  Give her this easier playing field, that's fine.  Given the developments on Wall Street and what's been going on Main Street, that's not what the voters actually interested in the debates are going to be focused on.  They will be focused on top ticket, especially positions re: the economy.  That's what is going to hit home now for millions upon millions of Americans.  It's the presidential debates that need to be excellent.  Palin as novelty is wearing off for those outside the base.  I just don't see her as much of an issue anymore.
