Reduced Shakespeare

By TinSoldier - Posted on 22 November 2008

We went to see my son in a play last night. It wasn't a main play, that's in a week or two when they will be doing "A Midsummer Night's Dream".Rather, this was a production of the third year drama students, and it was an hilarious take on Shakespeare called "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged".It was really a series of short takes on Shakespeare's works, but the highlights were Romeo and Juliet, the Othello rap, and the entire second half was taken up by a very funny take on Hamlet.Or "takes" I should say, as they first did Hamlet in their fashion, then they did it shorter, and then shorter still, and then backwards! And there was even an audience participation portion.

All in all, while I wasn't too keen on leaving the house on a Friday night, I had a very good time.

Of course that should have some line breaks in it. I can't figure out how to edit after submitting, though.

"For those who plan with audacity and execute with vigor,
progress is the magnificent by product."
