"Be Happy Anyway" - food for thought
Here is an interesting article from YES magazine.
'Painful as it may be in the short term, we can emerge from this crisis healthier and wealthier, with the sort of wealth that really matters: strong communities and relationships with loved ones, healthy ecosystems, and the skills to make a living and enjoy life.'
Enjoy.

I only kinda skimmed it, but I have to disagree with part of the article: while our wages certainly have stagnated we have so many more choices demanding a part of our income and yet many of these things which we now take for granted have definitely increased our standard of living and our expectations: cell phones, internet access, cable or satellite TV, home computers, etc.
Yes, this is truly the information age and information services and appliances have so become a part of our daily life and have become so taken for granted that saying that our standard of living has not increased in 30+ years is pretty disingenuous, IMO.
While material well-being doesn't make up the sum total of happiness, it is certainly a part of that.

I've got plenty of free time, but then again I'm an "underachiever" and just barely middle class.
*shrug*

Well, I was going to walk to the store for beer instead of driving but the weather changed my mind.
