Sesame Street announces layoffs

Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit producer of "Sesame Street" and other kids' programs, says it's cutting 20 percent of its work force because of the recession. The company says it's eliminating 67 of 355 staff positions. Best known as the home of such characters as Big Bird and Elmo, Sesame Workshop was founded in 1968 and debuted "Sesame Street" a year later.

The layoffs were brought to you by the letters F and U

Kermit gives a press conference.

That video was hilarious! The news itself? Not so much.

Son of A Beeeeitch, my morning learning might nit be the same now.

This news makes me sad.  Sesame Street was a staple of my childhood, and my baby nephew LOVES it, especially Elmo.   :-(

However, the part where you said:  The layoffs were brought to you by the letters F and U.... well, that just cracked me up.  I'm only guessing at what words those letters represent!!!

"I SO voted for Barack Obama!  10/25/08"

Will they still be able to buy cookies for Cookie Monster???

I will not throw the first punch but I wil certainly throw the last.....President Barack Obama.

I think Cookie Monster is going to have to adjust his standards...no more $4.00 boxes of Oreos that are gobbled up in 3 seconds.  Now he has to exist on $1.00 Dollar General brand ring cookies...and they have to last him a month.  Hey, I've told my kids they have to "budget" their snacks these days...and they actually love the Dollar General brand cookies (especially the DG brand Fudge Stips, while I rather enjoy the DG Brand Iced Oatmeal cookies!!)  If it's good for my kids, it's good enough for Cookie Monster!!  :-)

Well he certainly couldn't afford to live on Girl Scout cookies that's for sure.  Between the size and the cost - I almost would rather just give them the money.  But again - I do love me some Samoas.

Don't even get me started on the Boy Scout popcorn tin....

No no no!!  Thin mints!  Lauren and Lesley each got me a box when they bought their GS cookies.  Thank goodness for thoughtful daughters, cause I haven't seen a GS cookie seller this year.  ;-)

Thin mints would be my 2nd!!  Actually any chocolate and mint combination is high or top on my list of sweets.

Suzi, in your alphabet bet you need to practice the letters I R and C..... *_*

All of the above PLUS TAGALONGS!!

Very important. Respect the cookie.

.
The Tag A Longs are the bestest!!!
Well, I shoulda hooked up with you when we were in Louisiana.  I have my own little Brownie here.  I just bought all of the boxes of cookies (24 boxes) and gave some of them out as gifts.
We really need to do that ...cookies or no cookies.  lol

Oh dear Lord NO!!!  Isn't anything sacred?!?!?!  :::praying::: please, please don't let it be Elmo!!   Elmo helps with my sanity these days...he is one thing that will hold James' attention for longer than  0.8 seconds!!

Seriously, that is sad.  I guess no one is "safe" these days.

OMG!!! I love it!!!  LOLOL
