ABC's New Shows for fall

By HopeForOurFuture - Posted on 19 May 2009

V seems like it would work better as a mini series instead of a weekly show.

It just seems like the major networks have trouble doing weekly sci-fi type series. Look at Firefly, Jericho,  Surface, Invasion, Threshold etc. as examples.

I am glad it is a series, I like it when was on in the 80's.

As for sci-fi, look at Fringe, Lost, Heroes, Terminator.

Not all Sci-fi is bad for prime time

I was wondering if that was the same 'V'.  Remember the running joke in elementary was that the kids (of course not me ;)  ) would run around with 2 fingers up and asked if you watched 'V' last night.  The punch line was 'No. I only watched 1/2 of it - with one finger up.'  Guess which finger.

Jericho and Invasion were awesome.

The problem was in the scheduling, if you ask me.6

Although I'm not a sci-fi fan, "V" does look interesting.  I'm looking forward to checking out "Hank"...very timely, IMO, and "Happy Town."

Reading about "V" reminded me....I can't remember who recommended the book "The Host" as a good read, (Mary?)  but I want to thank that person.  It was really good, even to this non sci-fi fan....one of those books that I had a hard time putting down.

That was me!  Glad you like it.  It was completely not what I was expecting.

Me either!!  Thanks so much for the thumbs up!  It brought in so many elements of, well...almost spirituality, human ties and emotion, and the inner struggles we all face, wrapped up wonderfully in a great fictional read!!   I totally forgot that it was sci-fi!!!  ;-)

Flash Forward is certainly intriguing..

I will not throw the first punch but I wil certainly throw the last.....President Barack Obama.

For those that loved Jericho, NBC has a new show coming out called Day One.

And this summer NBC has some ones I would like to see: Merlin &  The Philanthropist.

Suzi, you might like this from fox, it is coming on mid-season, Past Life:

Ohhhh, that really looks good.  Not being a TV bug, I hope you will remind me when it begins.....

I will, being the TV bug that I am. I use my outlook calendar at work to remind me of EVERYTHING!!! Those little pop remimders are great, and I can't lose them like post it notes. LOL!!!

New cast photos and promos for V.

V - "V" is a re-imagining of the 1980's miniseries about the world's first encounter with an alien race in which the aliens call themselves The Visitors, and have a seemingly friendly agenda that may or may not be a cover for something more malevolent. "V" stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie Stevens, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.

The cast list is awesome with a lot of Sci-Fi alums.  What happened to the neon orange jumpsuits and thick black sunglasses from the original, though?  That made the Visitors so campy.

I hope that the keep the deformed swastika for the Visitor logo.  We need heavy-handed reminders that they are Teh Evol.  I do hope that the new writers have developed the Visitors plans a little more, as well.  Stealing all our water and harvesting us as a food source may have been scary in the 80's, but we need more now.  Earth isn't just a convenience store on the interstellar highway.

Thanks Chance, ooh it looks good. I recognize the guy from the 4400 and Julia from Lost. WHo else is from sci-fi shows?

Laura Vandervoort was Kara/Supergirl on Smallville and Morena Baccarin was Inara on Firefly and Adria on SG-1.

Adria, now she was a Super-B**ch!! Is she playing the Evil Alien?

Yes, she is playing the leader of the Visitors.  She is in both of those promo clips that I linked above.  First, telling the humans that they come in peace and only want to use some of our water to replenish their supplies.  Second, telling the journalist that he can't say anything that makes the Visitors look bad and if he does she'll cancel the interview.

I get the feeling that she is going to be deliciously evil.

Oh yeah, just like in Stargate.
