Sly Like a Fox....News, that is
Last night I watched a portion of Hannity and Colmes, and today I listened to a few minutes of Sean Hannity on radio as I was driving. He is still playing the same clips of Wright, and laughingly took credit for breaking this "huge story". He said he has been trying to bring this to the attention of America for over a year. OK, so we all already know this.....but it gets worse.
In the time I was listening, I heard nothing but racial innuendo. He cited many of today's controversial black leaders, quoting the worst statements he could find. He pointed out that the New Black Panthers were listed on Obama's web site, and went a bit into what the history of the Black Panthers. He guaranteed that he would be investigating this further. (He said he will also continue to investigate the ties between Wright and Obama.) I wonder if he will confess the fact that that listing on the website was a hoax, or will he say Obama pulled it down only after Sean called attention to it? He went to great lengths to attempt to connect the dots, trying to associate Obama with each of them. Anything he couldn't "prove" he implied, even implying that he thought Obama had held meetings with Farakkan.
If a caller identified themselves as black, he was very patronizing, so as to show that he had no prejudice, and tried to back them into a corner, not allowing them to express themselves. On the other hand, he outright argued with anyone he perceived to be white that supported Obama. I have to give these people points for courage in calling in.
Of course, he did all of this in the name of being a patriotic American. He implied that anyone who disagreed with him, was not. Is patriotism now equated with trying to destroy another human being?
This whole scenario frightens me, and makes me feel that Sean Hannity has a hidden agenda. I would like to think that it is just to stop a strong Democratic candidate, but it's more than that. It is too racially targeted, with no focus on issues. Why does Sean fear Obama so much? OR, why does he hate Obama so much? Is this another case of ratings and money being the driving factor? As in the case of Rush encouraging the Clinton vote? Is it a conservative attack to stop the likely Dem candidate by any means necessary? (It doesn't seem that way to me, but of course, Hannity is attacking my candidate.)
I'm not doing a very good job of expressing how ugly and sinister this seems to me. Am I over reacting, or is something going on here that bears watching? IMO, Hannity is dleiberately driving a racial wedge deep into the minds of his listeners. And the Wright story shows how much damage can be done when someone is determined to bring another down! The question is....WHY???

I heard the Hannity show was really awful today. I don't ever listen to that stuff so I don't have a good baseline for what an average day on the show is like, but I heard today was absolutely inexcusable. And this was coming from friends that are die-hard right-wing Republicans.
I used to listen to Sean a good bit quite a while back. But as he got more and more self-important and rude, a la Rush, I stopped listening. I can't abide anyone who thinks that their opionion is the only one that counts! But a friend told me that Hannity was the one that was responsible for the Wright firestorm, so I decided to find out for myself what was being said. I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
I'm glad your friends found it inexcusable, but I'm afraid that a lot of people won't be as discerning.
You are wise not to listen....It is hazardous to your mental health!
Ahhh ... Sean Headache Hannity. I can appreciate your irritation! These shock jocks are in it for ratings. Truth-bending and lies are what keeps narrow-minded listeners riveted. Here's a taste of Hannity's "sincerity" (please someone tell me if they heard him say this too):
In January one day he did a 180 on a show, stating that even though he'd been talking against McCain so far, he had a change of heart and after "deep reflection", decided that the face of the Republican Party had to change and that McCain was a sign of that.
He said "maybe we should be thinking more about the environment - McCain's got a good point about Anwar." He also said maybe "we" should have a more open-mind when it comes to illegal immigration (!) - that many of "those people" do service work for "us". Finally, he said he believes "Reagan conservatism" needs to be questioned - that maybe "we" need to be more progressive as conservatives. People called in to say they were never listening to him again. And guess what? ...
The very next day he was back to "Reagan conservatism' is the only way to go; we can't afford to compromise our traditional conservative values." And back to lightly thrashing McCain again. Amusing.
I woke up quite a while ago, as I wrote originally. I was listening yesterday to find out what was being said now, in light of hearing that Hannity was taking "credit" for the controversy swirling around Obama and his relationship with Rev. Wright. What I heard was apalling and frightening! You can bet that I will be monitoring what is being said, so as to be prepared for what comes next!
<They simply have the US flag tailored to fit them perfectly. >
I love this statement.....how true it is!!
The why is simple. Racism and absolute fanaticism to maintain control of the white house and the money machine that they have participated in creating in the corrupt Washington system. You know, the broken one that is not providing viable solutions for working America, healthcare, fair banking practices, true support for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans and all veterans, good public schools for all American children, equitable tax codes, blind justice for all, the end of corporate owned politicians, resolute plan to end the war.
The convenient diversion is merely an excuse to maintain their prejudices as if their 'white man' suffering could in any way compare with the historical and ongoing Black American experience. White man was never enslaved and when freed under the threat of lynchings and many other atrocities, and then just in the last 40 years to finally be given full human status, told that they are not allowed to feel any bitterness or negativity. Honestly, what hypocrisy to carry the mantle of the American flag and the shadow of the evangelical 'right' cross while constantly rigging a game of intolerance.
By the way, is the discussion of a possible conspiracy of AIDS on the black community any worse than the discussions of 9/11 conspiracies? Remember, our 'saintly' government did conduct the Tuskegee experiments on Black Men. Why wouldn't some of their elders entertain the notion of another similar conspiracy given their experience?
Why can't we look at our failings in history with frank honesty? It doesn't make our country any less great, just human. Frankly, if we are in the fact the Christian nation that Reverend Parsely claims, then we should be humble in our remourse for the wrong in our nation and change for the better. That would mean that we would have to admit we have a problem.
<Racism and absolute fanaticism to maintain control of the white house and the money machine that they have participated in creating in the corrupt Washington system.>
Maggie, that was my exact take on it too! My deepest fear is that his hateful spewing of bigotry will result in putting us back 40 years in the state of race relations in our society, It has already been shown that the MSM will pick up on his story and run with it, calling it "news". Hillary may be throwing the kitchen sink at Obama, but Hannity is throwing the septic tank!
If Obama is to be held responsible for a 30 second hodge podge of sound bites by Wright, why isn't the Republican nominee held responsible for being aligned with this kind of hate speech??
Wasn't it horrid pc? It has been a long time since anything revolted and frightened me this much. The last time may have been when David Duke was running for governor of my state of Louisiana!!
I think we should all listen to it when possible, although I doubt if many of us could take it for long, and post what is being said. Many people don't listen to those shows, and have no idea of the agenda that is being played out on our airwaves! It may be up to people like us to enlighten them, as a call to action.
Is anyone with me on this?
Their goal is to scare the bae enough so they come out to support Mccain. Easiest way is to paint obama as the secret "black seperatist" who will exert revenge on the white people for previous injustice.
like i've always been saying: media's southern strategy.
Well, "southern strategy" is alive and well in the whole of the USA!! Judging by the people I know, white racism is dwindling fast in the south. That is NOT to say it doesn't exist, but as the older generation dies out, they are replaced by youth coming of age that see the world as a whole, not as separate pieces. My age group is divided....we came of age in the civil rights era, and usually fall on one side or the other, sometimes taking an "on the fence" stance. Those on the fence could be swayed I imagine. But the generation following mine, my adult children's generation, have a different attitude, one of embracing a person for who they are as a person. (content of character at work!)
We have a racial balance down here that made the civil rights era very hard, but had been a plus in the ensuing years. Daily exposure to each others culture has resulted in understanding and acceptance in a way that is natural. I don't want the message of hate to polarize us again along racial lines, anywhere in this nation.
Aaron and Warsame.....I am in complete agreement with you both! The most important point, made by both of you, is that to ignore these men as mere blowhards is dangers. We ignore them at our own peril, as their ilk is becoming firmly entrenched in the media, and thereby in society. It is extremely frightening. If this is what the Republican party is becoming, I will not, in good conscience be able to stay in the party.
I am having trouble writing coherently as I just heard another shocking programming note, this time on Rush. I checked him when I got in the car, and he was pontificating on global warming....yadda yadda yadda. I changed stations, and went about my business. I checked again on the return trip, and heard....Oh Lord, I hate to even post this....but a song parody about "Barack the Magic Negro", to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon. It was insulting, degrading to any thinking person that was listening!
I haven't listened to any of these goons in a long time, but that is changing as of now.....they are growing stronger and bolder, and my ignoring them only lends strength to what they are doing.
I will have another post on this (Rush) later, but I have a bit of research to do first. But I am going to strike back. I hope some of you will join me.
Suzi, you had me at "Complete agreement" ;-)
Just let me know how I can help and I am yours.
BTW, if you find a link with that song plz send it to me or post it here.
my email is atomusick66 at hotmail.com
Sadly, Rush has been playing the "magic negro" song for eight months now. It's awful.
Aaron, they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, but now I also see that the way to his mind is through complete agreement. I'm going to file that on in my "feminine wiles" memory bank...lol I doubt if I could pull that one off very often, but I'll file it anyway. ;-)
Now for the serious stuff....I have some info that I hope you and others that want to help will use......
First, the Youtube link to "Barack the Magic Negro". I'm operating without speakers right now, so I didn't check it out, but I heard it on Rush, and once was enough!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvXz2xaLNMQ
Now, after this "parody" finished, he used something along these lines to seque into a commercial: Now folks, don't tell me that this will get me in hot water. I am always in hot water, because of (this hot water system: (Rinnai Tankless Water System) See link below....
http://www.foreverhotwater.com/
In doing some checking, it seems that Rush often refers to this system in the course of his rants. In using Rush's logic, wouldn't that make them complicit in what Rush says? I think a little pressure on this advertiser would be in order.
Glad to know I was not just imagining that Sean Hannity has it in for Sen. Obama (Sean H. does not like Black people) LOL; just teasing but he has been a bit much lately and I no longer buy into his you are a "great american" comments, he is Extreme!
.
Overall I am still a conservative but Independent thinking and still plan to vote for Sen. Obama.
As a cradle Catholic I have remained in the Church even though the priests "Raped" children & the church was deceitful in covering up the repulsive acts; why because the faith has been passed down for generations and I just can't break the bond.
.
Can't we just get along and accept Change.
Sen. Obama will be a success if Americans can move forward...
Dana De La Garza
Dana, I agree with what you often show about why people remain in their churches. Those reasons are as numbered as the people themselves. I, too, am a conservative, a Christian, and plan to vote for Obama.
It would be a beautiful world if people could all just get along. People like you and me, and most on this board, could...easily. I believe that most of the nation is like us. But there are some, of all races and/or religions, that cannot or will not, be so accepting of change, or of differences in human beings.
So now I intend to fight back....Sen Obama can lead us forward, but he he and his message are being distorted. If we ignore them, it emboldens them to become more and more extreme in their rhetoric. As was wisely stated earlier, it is dangerous to ignore them...we do so at our own peril.
I have to say, as a democrat we have som far left loonies of our own so do not despair ;)
I completely disagree with his policies and politics, but I have a great deal of respect for the man. He is fast becoming a popular republican in the democratic blogosphere. If the GOP are smart they make him their nominee for 2012 :)

You have respect for whom? Hannity?
I need text, not videos. I let my SIL borrow my speakers when his died. (I kept my speakers turned off most of the time anyway, unless needed.)
its a response from Mike Huckabee on the Wright controversy.
Can't you type the link in on your web browser? Or you can search on Mike Huckabee on youtube.
