Photographs of secret sites

By Misty - Posted on 26 September 2009 Taryn Simon exhibits her startling take on photography -- to reveal worlds and people we would never see otherwise. She shares two projects: one documents otherworldly locations typically kept secret from the public, the other involves haunting portraits of men convicted for crimes they did not commit.

A lot of interesting stuff in this video, IMHO.

Taryn Simon (born 1975) is an American fine art photographer. She is a graduate of Brown University and a Guggenheim Fellow. She was born in New York, and currently is an assignment photographer for the New York Times Magazine.

Interesting, thanks.

"If all mankind minus one were of one opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind."  ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859

That was interesting. I personally found Rebecca Saxe's talk about how we "read" other people's mind even more interesting; especially the part where she altered people's mind with that machine...
