Afghanistan - Once more into the breach
Here's a small collection of news and analyses on Obama's efforts to craft a workable strategy in Afghanistan:
First off, this superbly-written piece by The Christian Science Monitor should have everyone up to speed on most of the proposals on the table.
From NPR is this report on the parallels between Obama's Afghanistan and Kennedy's Vietnam. Much more relevant to the punditry, however, is the debate over whether McChrystal crossed the line by publicly airing his opinions; the NPR report is a pretty good summary of what went down. This Washington Post piece has a bit more of a nuanced view of McChrystal's London appearance, saying that while McChrystal was careful to say that he wasn't trying to pressure the administration, Sec. Gates effectively put an end to further public appearances by the good general.
