Rand Paul: A Worthy Second to Sarah Palin
Rand Paul is a worthy runner-up in utilizing word salad in his comments although I don't think he will ever succeed her mind-blinding skill.
Rachel Maddow asked him, “Should Woolworth lunch counter should have been allowed to stay segregated? Sir, just yes or no.”
RAND PAUL, the Tea Party darling who on Tuesday became GOP nominee for U.S. senator from Kentucky: “What I think would happen -- what I’m saying is, is that I don’t believe in any discrimination. I don’t believe in any private property should discriminate, either. And I wouldn’t attend, wouldn’t support, wouldn’t go to. But what you have to answer when you answer this point of view, which is an abstract, obscure conversation from 1964 that you want to bring up. But if you want to answer, you have to say then that you decide the rules for all restaurants and then you decide that you want to allow them to carry weapons into restaurants.”
PLAYBOOK: Say what?
“MORNING” JOE SCARBROUGH: “He needs to come up with an answer today, or Kentucky will be Arizona: a battleground for ugly, racial politics. He has 24 hours.”
Then there were his comments about holding his victory party at an exclusive country club handled as a multiple choice question on Politico;
On “GMA,” Rand Paul defends holding his victory party at the members-only Bowling Green Country Club (established 1913). Did he a) question the interview’s motives; b) go for the flag/free enterprise; c) invoke Tiger Woods or d) deny the (accurate) premise?
“Well, I think, at one time, people used to think of golf and golf courses and golf clubs as being exclusive. But I think, in recent years now, you see a lot of people playing golf. I think Tiger Woods has helped to broaden that in the sense that he's brought golf to a lot of the cities and to city youth. And so, no, I don't think it's nearly as exclusive as people once considered it to be.” Congratulations! You correctly picked “c.” http://dyn.politico.com/members/forums/thread.cfm?catid=7&subcatid=41&threadid=4069473
It should be interesting during the next several months but I sure hope he's soundly defeated in November!
