Gingrich Is Only A Reagan Fan Now That It's Convenient

By John Martin - Posted on 23 January 2012

Gingrich can praise Ronald Reagan all he wants today, but he was not nearly as complimentary while the Gipper was with us. Some of the things Gingrich said about Reagan back in the 80's and 90's would probably end a Republican's career if uttered in 2012.

“The fact is, on this particular bill, the president is trying to score a touchdown for liberalism, for the liberal welfare state, for big government, for the Internal Revenue Service, for multinational corporations, and for the various forces that consistently voted against the president.”
In 1990, Gingrich explained that Reagan governed from the center, despite speaking a good conservative game. In other words, Reagan was a conservative phony:
"Ronald Reagan did a lot of things that conservatives didn’t like. And I think it’s a little bit much to go back and say that was Camelot, that that was an era of pure conservatism. George Bush isn’t as good as Reagan was at making speeches on the right while governing in the center, but the fact is, that’s what Ronald Reagan did."
With regard to foreign policy, Reagan was the American equivalent of Chamberlain. In 1985 Gingrich referred to a meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev as "the most dangerous summit for the West since Adolf Hitler met with Chamberlain in 1938 at Munich".
Today's Republican voters think they want a Reagan conservative, but they don't. Reagan was a solid moderate by today's standards. It's a shame that professional hacks like Newt Gingrich pretend they're upholding the Reagan legacy, when all they're doing is using his good name to confuse people.

Reagan the RINO??? Say it ain't so, Newt!

Gingrich is very good at twisting reality, his past, and actual facts and quotes. But that "dance" can only go so far until he trips and embarrasses himself. Looks like he is already in the tripping phase based on last night's debate. I was really hoping he could stay ahead in the polls a little longer. Well, he still helped President Obama ALOT in his attacks on Romney.

Gingrich (like Gov. Jan Brewer) have a history of not being HONEST and like to make up their own facts to benefit themselves (or book in Jan's case, book sales). Their lies have exposed on Youtube or on numerous Media outlets (when will these candidates learn that they cannot run away from their lies if there is media around with camera's and mic's lol) Still learning? Crazy!!

But you got to hand it to him-- he knows he's lying, yet he knows that only a small number of people will ultimately notice, or care. A huge chunck of people will listen to what he says and then refuse to fact check it. They'd probably disregard anyone who points out the inconsistencies as well.
